A Double Standard When it Comes to Ukraine's Clampdown on Dissenting Churches

We see supposedly Liberal Ukraine applying its Western values by dissolving denominations the state does not favour. How is this any different from what Russia is going to Evangelicals, Jehovah's Witness, and others? Or China with unregistered churches?

How would Americans respond if Dispensationalists took over the White House and banned denominations that don't support Zionism and Israel's war?

What about churches that refuse to support America's wars?

China looks with alarm at someone like the Calvinist Wang Yi who flies across the ocean to meet with American and Christian Right-wing leaders who openly take anti-Beijing positions and seem to advocate a war posture. Wang then returns to China and makes trouble, flouting the laws and worse, doing so in an ostentatious manner. How is China going after Wang Yi any different than what Kyiv is doing to those associated with the Moscow patriarchate? For many of these people, the only thing they're doing is this - they're simply going to the same churches they've always gone to, all their lives. Nothing changed for them but suddenly they're bad people. They're not making noise about it. They're simply attending their churches.

The same is true of so-called pro-Russian clergy. Some are undoubtedly supportive of Moscow - and probably due to their perceptions of Western Liberalism and the threat it represents. Others are simply continuing to minister in the churches they've always been a part of. Suddenly, that's not acceptable. Suddenly they're traitors and criminals.

The same is true with Russia and the many Evangelicals with American denominational ties, and leaders often affiliated with the American GOP. Russia forces them to register and be monitored. When they refuse, they're shut down and the West screams about it.

Why is no one raising the issue of what Zelenskiy is doing in Ukraine?

A few European outlets are covering the story but are obviously torn. US mainstream media refuses to cover the story.
