The Twisted Attempts to Sanctify a Stunt

It's all over Christian media - two protesters shouted 'Christ is King' and 'Jesus is Lord' at a Kamala Harris rally. Though the nature and context of her response is disputed, she replied by telling them they were at the wrong rally. They were (like all protesters) removed by security. The two men proceeded to hit the interview circuit and have been making as much hay as possible out of all this - insisting they were verbally and physically abused. The narrative is meant to imply persecution.

We all know that 1 John 2 says that anyone who denies the Son is antichrist - therefore (it's argued or implied) Harris is antichrist.

Further, we have Evangelical leaders like John MacArthur stating that this makes it abundantly clear for Christians - revealing all they need to know about how to vote for in November. Christ is not at Harris rallies.

This kind of language and thinking mystifies me - do you think He's at the Trump rallies? I suppose since they've been turned into half-worship services in some instances, and given the way Evangelicals have turned him into a messiah-figure - I suppose some (very deceived) people might think Christ is present.

In reality, Trump's whole movement has struck me as something very antichrist-like, almost like I'm watching some bad 1970's Dispensational film about apostasy and the rise of a false Christian leader. Trump's movement is satanic - all the more as it masquerades as Christian. It represents a functional apostasy.

Harris is lost - we all know that. She represents no threat to the Church. Trump does because his attitudes and values are and have already transformed the Church and the way people behave and speak. It's in direct contrast with the New Testament and yet is being confused with Christianity.

Harris isn't leading any viable professing Christians astray but Trump has developed a subversive cult within the Church. He's far more of a threat and if leaders like MacArthur can't see that - well, all I can say is they're blind and have lost their way. But the truth is these leaders lost their way years ago - long before Trump appeared on the political stage.

As far as the protesters - they weren't persecuted. They went there looking for trouble. It was a stunt. They wanted to create a viral video and that's what they did. They went there to create a scene. That's not a gospel testimony.

Further, some like Terry Mattingly have suggested that 'Jesus is Lord' has become politicised and is connected to Trumpism. That's tragic and part of the blasphemous nature of that movement. They have hijacked Christ.

Harris and the system she represents is evil and will perish. I don't care about them. Trumpism is the threat to the Church and these clowns looking for their 15 minutes of fame have their reward - but they're not suffering for Christ. They are not deserving of accolade.

Christ is not 'at' any of these rallies. 'At' in this case signifies not just a general presence in terms of God's omnipresence but 'at' in the sense of a sanctified and sanctioning presence. Those that claim He is are lying and engaged in deception.

There is a spirit at work but it's not the Holy Spirit - rather one of 'strong delusion' which indeed is sent by God. I have no doubt whatsoever that the American Church is under judgment and its leaders are part of this - even those who many believe to be stalwarts in the faith. We are witnessing a watershed, a transformation. If you don't have your eyes and ears wide open, you will be lost in the fog and fall into the raging torrent of apostasy - and be swept away. The harvest from these years is going to be staggering and terrible and many will not fully understand what is happening until years have passed and the damage is done.
