South Africa, BRICS, and Ukraine

South Africa has been catching quite a bit of flak as of late from the Western media. The ruling ANC has refused to openly condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine and worse, they are planning to participate in military exercises in February with both China and Russia.

The Age of Midgets and Little Men

In the past when leaders made bold or revolutionary political moves, they either believed in their cause, or at the very least in themselves. They put it all on the line and risked all in order to grasp the power they coveted. Some were even willing to risk their lives.

Right Wing Evangelicals in Brazil and the Embrace of Fascism

https://theworld.org/stories/2022-07-29/brazil-s-evangelicals-stand-president-bolsonaro

I have visited this topic more than once but with today's election in Brazil it once more comes to mind. The rise of Bolsonaro isn't that surprising as we see Right-wing and fascistic movements waxing everywhere. But it is the Evangelical support for Bolsonaro that is particularly of interest and the fact that like Trump he has all but announced that if he loses the election he will not accept the results – and has indicated he's willing to entertain extreme measures to reverse the result.

A Ukraine Miscellany (VII): Proxy War, BRICS, and Roadblocks to the US Plan

It's a point that needs to be reiterated. By failing to provide any kind of context to the war, the reporting on Russia and the responses of Putin to the sanctions regime are effectively spin-jobs. His threats to cut off Eastern European gas are not cases of blackmail, but the result of him being painted into a corner. The sanctions are basically an attempt to blackmail Russia into bowing to NATO. Any resistance on his part is ironically couched as 'blackmail'.

Putin's threats regarding a quick response to outside intervention are presented as menacing and aggressive but once again he finds himself in a serious quandary. He's fighting a war against NATO and losing. He has certainly lost the propaganda war in much of the world. By means of proxy war, economic sanctions, and various other measures his regime is under severe strain and increasingly isolated. They're fighting him but he's not allowed to respond. In fact if Foreign Minister Lavrov or anyone for that matter within the context of US politics or media declares this to be a proxy war between the US/NATO and Russia, they're decried and even mocked by the mainstream media.

And yet the US Secretary of Defense has openly declared the US is in a fight with Russia and military aid to Ukraine is meant to weaken Moscow's military might. That sounds like a proxy war to me.

Theological Trumpism: Christ Defended by Thugs

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/president-of-brazil-pushes-for-worldwide-fight-against-christophobia-at-un

It is no great shock to find a platform such as LifeSite celebrating this sort of thing – Christ being promoted and defended by thugs such as Jair Bolsonaro.

LifeSite represents the Dominionist nexus – the new ecumenism born of Evangelical Dominion theology and sections of traditionalist and integralist Catholicism. These groups celebrate anything that smacks of Christians (of almost any stripe) wielding and exercising cultural influence and political power.

Anti-Sodomite Vigilantism in Brazil

Though few leaders are going to come out and openly support it, I believe many American Evangelicals support this type of Christian-on-Pagan violence, or would if given the chance. They're frustrated, they've had it and they want to lash out. Frankly the theology and culture promoted by Evangelicalism leads to this. It fosters vengeance. From the lawsuit and politics to the gun and the glorification of the military, Evangelicalism has embraced violence and power and has chosen to completely ignore if not negate the ethics of the New Testament.
With regard to Brazil, at this point we're not sure the fire was started by 'Christian' vigilantes but there's every reason to believe that it was.

Dominionist-Fueled Violence in Brazil

Evangelical activism can take a different turn in countries that don't have a stable democracy or a long tradition of liberal values rooted in established social institutions. In Latin America, in Africa and certainly in parts of Asia these things are lacking and so it shouldn't surprise us that such religious extremism (one hesitates to call it Christian) is able to take root.

Bolsonaro's Biblical Principles

The symbolism was both powerful and by some estimations poignant. With the Bible and the Brazilian Constitution on the table before him, Jair Bolsonaro proclaimed the people must learn to 'coexist with the truth'.

Evangelicals in Brazil

It is undisputed that Evangelicals are on the rise in Brazil. It's being talked about and the subject is even coming up in regular mainstream newscasts. Just the other morning, there was a brief story about how Marcelo Crivella the Evangelical mayor of Rio de Janeiro created a somewhat odd moment with his half-hearted inauguration of the Carnival bacchanal. An opponent of the pagan festivities, he has made considerable cuts to the funding earning the ire of many of his constituents.

Brazil is Heating Up

This article makes for a disturbing read and while I don't wish to dwell on the particulars I simply wanted to post something about the changes taking place in Brazil. The Evangelicals are on the rise and it would seem Brazil is headed toward a culture war.

Relationships as a Euphemism for Recruitment and Corruption

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Visitor_Leadership_Program#Agencies_involved

There are only hints of CIA recruitment associated with this particular programme and yet it is exactly the kind of venue utilised by the US Establishment to 'establish relationships' with future world leaders.

Feeding on the Corpse of Brazil

At this point it's difficult to point to hard evidence but there are rumours, suggestions and hints that the toppling of Rousseff in Brazil has at the very least been instigated by forces associated with the United States. The case is growing almost by the day.
