Just recently I was talking with one of the wealthier ladies
in the area. She was a little baffled over the panic regarding lost wages and
the shut-down. After all one of the neighbouring county executives said on
television – everyone should have three months of wages set aside for
emergencies and that way they can weather such storms. I pointed out that the
woman who said this – someone whose family is known to be quite wealthy – is
rich and thus doesn't understand how most people live. The latest statistics
are startling as apparently about half the country can barely come up with $500
or $1000 in the case of an emergency. Why are things this way? It's complicated.
People overextend themselves in many cases. But in many more cases the cost of
housing is so high that people work like dogs just to keep a roof over their
heads. People are foolish in many cases – trying to keep up with the Joneses –
but in many more there are people who have given up on the American dream but still
can't seem to get ahead or even break even and as such just barely survive –
one disaster from collapse and the threat of homelessness. And in the process
their families are destroyed. It's a wicked cycle and a wicked system that
breeds evil both at home and abroad.

GOP Exploits Covid-19 in Attempt to Smash State Pension Systems: A Christian Response (Part 1)
McConnell
and Trump are suddenly pretending to be fiscal hawks and rejecting calls for a
bailout of the states. While the national debt has exploded since 9/11 and has
reached new heights under Trump, suddenly there's a reticence to use the fiscal
tools of the Federal Reserve and the banking system to help the states weather
the trials of the pandemic.
And yet why? Is it really out of a concern for fiscal policy?
More likely this is a tactical move the likes of Paul Ryan would applaud. They
want the states to declare bankruptcy. Why?

Buying Czech Loyalty: Rewarding the V4
It is with veritable glee that the American and European
publics mark the thirty year anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. And
yet military contractors perhaps find a greater reason to rejoice in marking
the nearly 29 years since the Warsaw Pact collapsed. After almost three decades
it can be safely said that most former Eastern Bloc hardware is becoming
obsolete.

Capitalism, Privacy and Medical Records
I agree with Ron Paul that a universal medical ID is a bad
idea and potentially spells trouble. And yet the question of medical records has
been an ongoing problem and all acknowledge the current system slows down the
health care process and increases costs.

Indian Biometrics and the Privatisation of Government Data Collection
New Delhi insists biometric data is fully safe and secure.
Why should the people trust this is the case? If hackers were able to break
into the UID system with such ease or an insider was able to sell the data
undetected, either way it has been made clear the government has no real
operational system control let alone security.

Health Insurance: Risk or Access?
As it would seem Obama's Affordable Care Act (ACA) also known
as ObamaCare is under attack and faces repeal, I've noticed a certain way of
speaking is starting to crop up once again.
Insurance is being referred to as a question of calculated risk and this definition is
being used to discredit concepts like comprehensive coverage and even the idea
of access.
And yet it must be remembered that the latter is actually the
key issue. For the working class and the poor, health insurance is not a
question of calculated risk. This is how the upper class and some of the middle
class approach the question.

India's Coal Monopoly
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-india-coal-modi-idUSKBN13Q45W?il=0
It is important to
understand that while breaking up monopolies is perceived as anti-market and an
imposition of the regulatory state, it can just as easily prove a boon to the
corporate Establishment.
Breaking up a
nationalised public-private monopoly is a means of extending privatisation.
Union contracts are negated and can be dismantled. It's yet another application
of divide and conquer.

New York Police: Intoxicated by Power
http://gothamist.com/2016/03/01/nypd_home_invasion.php
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) has long shown
their disdain for the Constitution and the rule of law. Though they fell under
some criticism for 'Stop and Frisk' they continue to abuse their authority and
believe they are the totalitarian masters of the Five Boroughs.

Socialism and Identity Politics
If Bernie Sanders wanted to demonstrate his true Socialist
bona fides, he would attack Obama's recent Transgender Bathroom mandate.
