A Ridiculous Essay About Anti-Trump Evangelicals

https://www.aaronrenn.com/p/the-resistance-will-be-organized

I think I've just about had my fill of Aaron Renn and for that matter the on-line rag known as The American Reformer. After reading several of his pieces, I think I've more or less grasped where he's coming from and I don't see that he has a lot to offer.

This piece was pretty characteristic of what I keep encountering – more Right-wing boilerplate material.

There's a great sinister plot at work – all kinds of dark money funding the anti-Trump Evangelical movement.

Syriza and the Pseudo-Left in Greece

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/9/25/kasselakis-a-political-unknown-and-ex-banker-wins-race-to-lead-greek-left

The fact that new Syriza leader Stefanos Kasselakis is a sodomite does not make him Left-wing – any more than was his predecessor Alex Tsipras. Tsipras who ran on Leftist platform and formed a coalition to that end, was revealed as a tool of the bankers and the EU Establishment.

Kiliçdaroglu: Running to the Right of Erdogan

https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/turkey-elections-opposition-candidate-kilicdaroglu-refugees-expel

To the surprise of many, Erdogan not only did better than expected in the first round of the election, he now stands all but poised to win another term. This is despite the crushing economic troubles the country faces and the scandal surrounding the response to the February 2023 earthquake and subsequent questions surrounding corruption, building codes, and the like.

Italy and the United States: Seeking Stability in the Elder Statesmen

https://www.euractiv.com/section/politics/news/president-mattarella-reluctant-hero-in-italys-crisis/

Akin to similar developments in other Western democracies, the polarity within Italian politics has reached an extreme – to the point that change itself is feared. Elected to his second term as president, Sergio Matarella is 80 years old and he is the stabilizing factor, the shepherd of an inherently unstable situation – that of Italy's National Unity government which was formed last year.

Justified Cynicism Regarding the GOP's 2021 Virginia-Election Narrative

Many Evangelicals have celebrated the win of Glenn Youngkin in the Virginia gubernatorial race. There have been various discussions regarding whether or not he's actually an Evangelical, his place in the GOP vis-à-vis Trump, and what his win means in terms of the pending 2022 mid-term elections.

Greenwald Rapidly Destroying His Credibility

Glenn Greenwald formerly of The Guardian and The Intercept, the latter of which he helped to found in the aftermath of the Edward Snowden revelations – has gone out on his own. One of the lone voices within anti-Establishment (Left-wing) journalism, he has made enemies by questioning the Russiagate narrative and has at times questioned some of the Left's narratives surrounding Donald Trump.

The Labour Purges: Corbyn and the Fraudulent Anti-Semitism Campaign

Though he was forced out over six months ago, the UK's Blair-ite controlled Labour Party has persisted in their conspiracy to destroy Jeremy Corbyn and any hint of his legacy. He's still an MP and apparently there's fear that his wing of the party may come back at some point. And so while he's down, Keir Starmer and those that back him are maneuvering to take Corbyn out of the equation.

UK Politics: Labour Continues Phoney Anti-Semitic Purges and the Results of Beijing's Hong Kong Clampdown

Jeremy Corbyn is gone but the Labour Party's 'Anti-Semitism' push to the right agenda continues. It's being used as a means to purge the party of anyone who doesn't toe the Establishment line when it comes to UK foreign policy.
You could almost describe this as the UK's version of a flirtation with McCarthyism.

Covid-19 and Project Venezuela

The US seems to have shifted its posture with regard to Venezuela's Juan Guaido. Though touted by Trump and given a profile boost by his invitation to the State of the Union in February of 2020, the truth is he has failed to oust Nicolas Maduro and his campaign has effectively lost its momentum.

Samantha Power: A Right-wing Democrat

The review provides some interesting insight into one such as Power. During her tenure she was viewed by the Right as a Leftist, part of a Far-Left administration. As I and others continue to insist, today's DNC is not really a Left-wing political entity. There's a Left-wing within its ranks, one that duplicitous figures like Sanders and Warren are labouring to keep within its larger sphere. And yet there are also Centrists and then there are those that could be called Democratic Right. And they're not a small faction. In fact they dominate the party.*

The Raw Power of the Military-Industrial Complex on Display

This is why the murder of Jamal Khashoggi doesn't matter. The Saudis are not only in an informal alliance with the United States and Israel, they are pursuing US interests in Yemen and vis-à-vis Iran.
This is not to say that there aren't Saudi and American interests upset with the recent turn in Saudi politics under bin Salman. Nevertheless the pressure is great to 'let it ride'.
When billions of dollars are at stake, there's a lot of pressure and influence that come to bear and since there are 101 ways to bribe and payoff people and with plenty of money to spare.... the people who sit atop the Wall Street-Defense industry-political-military nexus... the Military Industrial Complex have a lot of power. They get their way and get rich at the same time.

An Instructive Episode: Leftist and Establishment Responses to Trump's Syria Withdrawal

Trump's recent orders regarding US troop withdrawal from Syria have generated a political and media firestorm. He has (wittingly or not) undermined a key plank of US imperial policy with regard to the Middle East. Syria was but part of a larger strategy and the battle against ISIS, like the larger war against al Qaeda, (and the interminable 'War on Terror') are but a pretense, a means to an end in a series of larger geostrategic goals.

Orwell and the Bolivarian Dream: When the Law Becomes Sin

This is of course a somewhat self-serving article on the part of Reuters as the news agency is in this case serving the Anti-Chavez/Maduro campaign that has been mounted by the West.
And yet, it is disturbing to say the least. As the Bolivarian experiment has collapsed, the rulers of Venezuela (Maduro and the military) wish to retain control and are apparently willing to open some dark doors to do so. I don't think Simon Bolivar would approve.

The Guardian, Establishment Appropriation and Ghosts of World War I

Alongside publications like the New York Times and Washington Post, The Guardian has moved into a position of being one of the chief publications at the forefront of Western Imperialism. Championing the Anti-Russian campaign and zealously advocating for intervention in Syria, the paper pushes on many fronts for NATO militarism and so-called humanitarian wars.

Mainstream Media's Apologia for Empire

This Fresh Air interview is related to a Chinese surveillance project I mentioned in a previous article:
For those that think that Left-wing thinkers and advocates like Terry Gross and NPR are anti-American, they need to reconsider. These people are thoroughly invested in the American project. I was left somewhat astounded listening to the New Yorker's Osnos paint China's aggressive expansion in terms that made them look somewhat sinister and conniving, even while ignoring US actions and the massive footprint it already possesses. This is never questioned, it's simply assumed and presumed to be a good thing.

Humanitarian Politics and Myanmar

Beware the so-called humanitarians arguing for war.
Humanitarian politics has become a basis for war in the post Cold War era. This was a growing theme during the 1990's as the US intervened in places like Somalia and NATO began to rapidly expand in Europe. Even the disastrous genocide in Rwanda was spun as a call to arms for future interventions.
