Windsor, Ramadan, and More AFR Hype

Listening to American Family Radio (AFR) in March, I caught a story about Ramadan fast-breaking being held at Windsor Castle. As expected the story was misrepresented. They were invited by Charles - though not without controversy. He is well known as an advocate of inter-religious and ecumenical projects. For some this is controversial as he is officially the 'Defender of the Faith' as head of the Church of England.

An Excellent Summary of Christian Nationalism

https://religionnews.com/2024/04/04/the-peril-radicalizing-some-evangelicals-goes-beyond-christian-nationalism/

This is probably one of the best summaries of Christian Nationalism I've read yet. Taylor successfully and succinctly explains the difference between the older forms of Evangelical Right-wing Christianity and its ethos of preferential pluralism and that of Christian Nationalism or as he rightly puts it - Christian Supremacy.

Trueman's Desecration of Christian Sensibility

https://www.firstthings.com/web-exclusives/2024/02/desecration-at-st-patricks-cathedral

Is Trueman still a Protestant? One is baffled by his line of argument. Historically Protestants would have viewed the Roman Catholic temple as a blasphemy and its rites as a desecration of the New Testament. What Trueman is arguing about is sacral categories in terms of society - and who controls the symbols and sacred spaces.

Reflecting on Sproul

https://kuyperian.com/episode-101-r-c-sproul-and-his-legacy/

I recently stumbled across this podcast. Brito is known to me through his CREC connections and I noticed Federal Vision sat like an ignored elephant in the room during his interview with Pickowicz.

A Colson Anniversary

https://www.breakpoint.org/50-years-ago-chuck-colson-was-granted-eternal-life/

The memory of Charles 'Chuck' Colson (1931-2012) is already starting to fade away. He was of another generation and one that seems increasingly distant. From time to time BreakPoint will replay one of his old commentaries and they did so recently as 2023 marks the fiftieth anniversary of his conversion – except I continue to argue the man was a fraud.

Beck the Ecumenical Puppet Master

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUxZeEaa7BI

I had not realized to just what extent Glenn Beck was reaching out and engaged in a kind of functional if informal ecumenism. I knew he had made tremendous inroads into the Evangelical sphere deceiving many people into thinking him a Christian. And now apparently he's even gaining traction among Roman Catholics.

Finnish MP Paivi Rasanen's speech at the General Assembly of the Spanish Evangelical Alliance

https://evangelicalfocus.com/features/16010/for-the-christians-the-bible-is-the-word-of-god-and-we-must-have-the-possibility-to-agree-with-it

As many readers will already know Paivi Rasanen is the Finnish MP who has been brought up on charges regarding her anti-homosexual stand and public statements she has made to that end. Her trial is complete and if found guilty she faces jail time. It signals a real warning to Christians in the West that the Sodomite factions that have come to dominate large sections of Western capitalist society intend to prosecute dissidents.

Catholic-Evangelical Alliances and the Divisions They Produce

https://www.ncronline.org/news/vatican/italian-jesuit-magazine-criticizes-political-attitudes-some-us-catholics

Fundamentalism's voice of protest continues to weaken. Evangelicals and Catholics are allies now. The seeds planted by Francis Schaeffer and watered by Chuck Colson – and the architects of Vatican II have come to fruition. For good or ill we've come a long way from Chick tracts and Hislop's The Two Babylons. The last bastions of anti-Catholicism are today found in connection with Ulster and the (equally dubious) heritage of Ian Paisley.

Co-Belligerence, TBN, and Fulton Sheen

Trinity Broadcasting Network or TBN is the haunt of Evangelical apostates. No serious Biblically-minded Christian would have anything to do with that highly corrupt and heretical organisation and in saying so I do paint with a broad brush.

Some Reflections on the Death of JI Packer

Whenever someone of the older generation of Evangelical leaders dies off, it's always a time to reflect. For me, I am forced to look back to my early days as a Christian in the mid-1990's and consider where I was then versus now and how things in general have changed.

How Should We Then Live: The Schaeffer Legacy and the Great Evangelical Disaster

Though the series ended with Part 10, we're using this 11th installment to reflect on the legacy of Schaeffer and his film. While at this point it's very dated, the leaders of contemporary Evangelicalism were greatly inspired by Schaeffer and his work. Whether they read his books or not, chances are they saw these films. Virtually every leader of the movement was either directly inspired by him or by those who took up his mantle. His presence both hovers and looms over the Evangelical world.

CTE, the Ecumenical Movement and the Sodomite Breaking Point

Churches Together in England or CTE is an ecumenical body that seeks to bring together the various strands of Christianity within England. It's part of a larger network of similar bodies that seeks to tie together all ecclesiastical organisations with the British Isles. It's open to Catholics, Liberals, Pentecostals, Evangelicals and more and yet the organisation has recently fallen under some scrutiny over a controversy that developed over one of its six presidencies.

Lausanne and the Evangelical Undermining of Sola Scriptura: Watering Down the Word

This article is not unique. In fact there are dozens just like it produced on a daily basis. I've repeatedly addressed these issues in my writings and yet since there are so few who seem willing or able to provide the necessary critique I feel compelled to keep doing so, hoping that someone will stumble upon it, or that this time it will 'click' with someone.

The Christian Right and Lega

The Dominionist Machine Comes to Italy via 1994's ECT
This article grabbed my attention because the World Congress of Families (WCF) is run by Allan Carlson. I've heard him interviewed on more than one occasion.
He appeared not long ago on Issues Etc. offering praise for Viktor Orban. While I can understand what is motivating Orban, I don't think I can offer him praise or compliment , let alone work with his party as Carlson's WCF is wont to do.

Evangelicalism Divided and Destitute

updated 6 January 2018

Labeling leading Evangelicals as enemies seems a bit extreme to some, even if they will grant that most of the names on the Newsmax list are problematic.
And yet as I've mentioned on numerous occasions, Iain Murray all but did the same back in 2000. And yet he did it in such a way that few seemed to grasp the full import of what he was saying.

Controversies Surrounding Bergoglio (Francis)

For those interested in following the struggles and intrigues of the Vatican this article from The Guardian warrants a look.
It helps to explain some of the recent battles, actions and rhetoric taking place between the Papacy and groups like the Knights of Malta. These events have received what could be described as somewhat muddled coverage.
