The July 4th Miracle That Wasn't: Another Example of Why I Never Joined HSLDA

We homeschooled all of our children but I never wanted to join HSLDA. I know many who found them helpful or called upon them for legal aid, but I could not in good conscience give them money or turn to them for support.

They promote doctrinal filth, mythology, and lies. They may serve the homeschool community, but they also promote heresy and disinformation. They cannot be supported.

No nation is an accident. The powers that be are ordained by God. Providence has been described as a miracle in slow motion. All the beast powers experienced a 'miraculous' rise and then were judged for it. This theological-moral interpretation of Providence as represented by the likes of David Barton, Peter Marshall, and HSLDA, is misguided conjecture, wishful thinking, and a clear case of mythologizing. They select the bits they like and ignore or downplay the rest.

The language suggests the Constitution is inspired. They would of course deny this - to a point. At the end of the day they do believe the Spirit was working in its formation, which is actually rather ironic given its godless character and anti-Christian values. It created a nation that Christians can live in, but it did not create a Christian nation - of which there is no such thing. In the final analysis, the confusion created by this very sort of syncretistic romanticised muddle has proven to be far more subversive and destructive to the Church than other models that specifically deny or reject the Church.

Like HSLDA, Mike Pence has no integrity and his Christian standing is in question - or ought to be. In an age of apostasy, the Church endures and promotes men like Pence and the vile people he has allied himself with. In reality, he should have been disciplined long ago and called to repentance. His endorsement is worthless. He has no discernment or standing.

I chuckled when I saw the endorsement from Richard Dreyfuss. Oh, how Evangelicals are desperate for celebrity endorsements! Are they going to pretend Dreyfuss is a Christian? He clearly is not. Ironically he thinks a strong sense of civics should have led people to push for the impeachment of George Bush. You'll get no argument with that from this author. But the problem is, if he's not a Christian how can his evaluation of the movie be worth anything? If he's not a Christian, then he doesn't know what it is, or who the God of Scripture is. What can it all possibly mean to him?

Well, that doesn't matter. What matters is - they got Richard Dreyfuss to give an endorsement.

Ronald Drez isn't a Christian either and his views of history support America's legacy of deceit and mass murder - he played a part in that and celebrates it. His statement reveals the Michael Medved is behind the film. Medved is not a Christian. There's no such thing as Judeo-Christianity. Medved is a hack and deceiver. I suppose it is thus appropriate that HSLDA wants to promote his film. The only nice thing I can say about him is that he didn't support Donald Trump. That said, his narratives, politics, and alliances belie any claims of integrity. Michael Farris on the other hand (who founded HSLDA and Patrick Henry College) sold out to Trump.

The American Revolution was sinful. Taxation without Representation, nor any of the items listed in the Declaration of Independence give Christians warrant to take up arms against a king and to kill his soldiers or those who simply are trying to be obedient to the status quo.

The rebels won and created a new country. So be it. It happens all the time but they do not get to claim God's blessings when their nation was founded upon their sinful actions.

The godly heritage of the Founders and the Revolution are modern day myths being promoted by the heretical American Church. They teach Christians to sin and to approve of sin.

Don't give these charlatans and snake oil theologians and historians your money or your support. Christian don't file lawsuits. If I need defending - in all honesty I'd be more likely to call the ACLU.
