Today Janet Mefferd tried to suggest the chaos in Libya is
due to Obama's naïve support for the Arab Spring. There are always the veiled
insinuations that he's some kind of crypto-Muslim.
The reality is that the idea of a nation state is relatively
new in terms of world history and a rather risky proposition. Rather than build
on the basis of tribe or even race, it rests on institutions and constitutional
ideals. For many nations it's a long fragile process that may take decades and
generations to develop.
When the US and NATO venture into countries and destroy
institutions by dropping bombs the social fabric is rent.
And it can't be repaired or rebuilt in a day or sometimes
even a decade.
The US decimated Iraq and effectively created the scenario
that has arisen. At this point most Iraqis would rather have Saddam back.
Did Obama exacerbate the situation by pulling out troops the
way he did?
Maybe, but once again our media isn't telling the story.
ISIS was born about 8 years ago. These are the disgruntled and now radicalized
Sunni elements that were devastated and butchered by US troops in Anbar
province. Some of them are even the same people the US was paying off around
the time of Bush's Surge. They were paid to fight Al Qaeda in Iraq and not to
fight American troops. But these Awakening/Sons of Iraq groups disbanded and
under the new Shiite government not a few of them re-embraced militant Islam.
ISIS is the fruit of Bush and Bremer's policies and the Bush/Obama
policy of propping up of the now ousted Maliki whose policies split the already
tenuous nation.
The US needs to quit trying to solve problems with bombs.
American policy and actions are creating new enemies and new conflicts. One
wonders at times if that isn't the goal?
In Syria the US was more or less helping these people as
they fought against Assad. The more secularized Sunnis directly backed by the
US control only a small area. While the US isn't directly supporting ISIS in
Syria they're helping their cause against the Assad regime.
Welcome to the Middle East. Sometimes fighting one enemy
helps another. The US did the same thing in Iraq. The country that benefitted
the most from Bush's 2003 invasion was none other than Iran.
This whole brew was birthed by American policy in the
region. There are also Saudi elements backing ISIS and this whole thing is also
playing out as proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
In Libya, as bad as Gaddafi was, the ensuing chaos has
proven worse. There are numerous city based tribal factions and the situation
has spiraled out of control. The US has backed certain groups especially the
faction led by Haftar. He has been living in suburban Washington for many years
and it's no great secret that he's working with the CIA.
If two kids get into a fight on the playground, it's not
anyone's fault but their own.
But if two bigger kids come along and give the first two
kids axes and knives... do they not bear some responsibility? If the bigger
kids pick a side and pelt the opposite smaller kid with rocks, wounding him to
give their kid an advantage... do they not bear some responsibility?
The Arab Spring started as a movement that in many ways was
rejecting both Al Qaeda and the United States. It was trying to forge a new
path. It has failed and pretty miserably at that. The US has played a part in
its failure. As usual Janet Mefferd has no clue what she's talking about. Nor
do most of her guests.
Today the situation in most of the countries has either
reverted to the previous arrangement (as in Egypt) or worsened.
The problem isn't Obama per se. He's part of the larger
problem which is US foreign policy. I'm not defending him. He's a pretty evil
guy. But for people like Mefferd or the FOX news crowd to criticize him...
that's a travesty.
Mefferd once again flaunts her ignorance and shows her total
disregard of truth. She couldn't be less interested. She lacks the sobriety
required to run a show like she does and ought to be rebuked by the Church for
being an opportunistic political hack and fraud. She is a complete disgrace and
is harming Christians with misinformation and I honestly have to question the
mental state, integrity and intelligence of anyone who appears on her programme
or thinks that she's a valid trustworthy source of information.
This is a harsh assessment. I do not apologize for it. I
stand by these words. In fact I'm being restrained. I am outraged that
Christians think this is a good show. This is how dangerous I believe she and
her ilk are. They are stirring up people by employing misinformation and
deliberate distortions of the truth. Their target: The Church of Jesus Christ.
Their motive: Political Power
Woe to them. They will answer for their deeds. They are
Judgment and Delusion set upon the American Church.
But that doesn't remove their culpability.
