The Strategic Space article helps to explain the geographic divisions with Nepal and the nature of China's relationship to the region.

The second article is from Asia News, a Catholic publication focused on Eurasian issues and as such has a slightly different read on Beijing's motivations visa-vis Nepal. Both articles speak of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the role China plays in the northern region of Nepal. But the Catholic article is far more cynical, viewing China's incursion as not merely motivated by trade and a desire to police its own borders (and the critical border with Tibet), but to expand and dominate.

This article is by Alan Morrison, an English pastor that (last I knew) had relocated to the Continent. His criticisms of the Charismatic movement made him a lot of enemies in years past and I think the criticism and threats nearly broke him, and for a time he more or less dropped out and seemingly fell off the grid.

While not agreeing with him all the time, I've benefitted from some of his writings and still appreciate his efforts and so I would 'keep an eye out' for him and from time to time see if he was back online. He did re-emerge in the 2010's and I've checked in on his website from time to time.

I'm not usually thrilled with the proclamations of Lausanne-style Evangelicals but this was somewhat refreshing, and all the more given that they specifically condemn the son of Billy Graham. Graham-style Evangelicalism is their hallmark and while these groups are hardly what I would call conservative or Biblical, they have enough sense to realize that Franklin has gone off the rails and lost his way.

Challies is a popular figure within New Calvinist/Evangelical circles. He rightly denounces the counterfeit mysteries that seem to be so popular in Evangelical and Charismatic circles - the Bible code books, visions of heaven and hell, hidden prophecies tied to contemporary politics, or perhaps the latest 'key' to understanding the Dispensational End Times scheme. This article came up as a suggested read in light of a 'pastor', one Andrew Stoecklein's suicide. I don't know anything about him, I can only go by what I see and read and to be honest it's not something I'm interested in giving more than a few minutes to.

In one sense I am hardly surprised that such 'Church' leaders are collapsing into scandal and now suicide. And yet who ever heard of such a thing? While the congregation is grieved I'm sure, what a startling thing to realise they were being led by someone so unqualified, so apparently divorced from New Testament Christianity! But so it is with modern Evangelicalism. Its rotten fruit is plain for all to see. Evangelicalism is built on a false foundation. Seeking friendship with the world, they've lost their way and they no longer know what the solutions are. They don't even know what questions to ask.
