This World Magazine article from back in November 2025 continues to amaze me.
Littlejohn of The Davenant Institute is an avowed disciple of the Doug Wilson sect and offers his appreciation to not only Wilson and Douglas Jones, but Peter Leithart. This reveals a great deal in terms of his formation.

Napolitano would have us take Easter seriously and then proceeds to make a mockery of it. I found this to be in keeping with most of his commentaries. We would do well to identify these errors and reflect on them. Have they influenced our own thinking? To what degree do they shape the thinking of Christians around us?
I'm sure many readers have already seen these headlines about Evangelical funding being cut by DOGE - and no doubt many caught the fact that there's something poetic about these developments.
I was recently spending some time with an older man from a nearby town that I've known for many years. I've mentioned him before in other articles. He's one of those old blue-collar types that really has only one religion - America. He worships the flag, troops, firefighters, and law-enforcement. When I first knew him back in the 1990's, he liked Bill Clinton and supported Gore in the 2000 election. He's lax when it comes to morality in terms of things like homosexuality and abortion and yet takes a pretty hardline view when it comes to work ethic, foreign policy, and the like. He's pro-union if that even matters any more.

I've been listening to Christ the Center since about 2009. An interesting podcast most of the time, this episode was an exception. After realizing the guest was a law professor at Liberty University, I almost turned it off. I struggle to take anyone associated with Liberty seriously, but I decided to give it a listen.
I used to enjoy watching the Olympics. Some years we'd even have cable turned on for a month so we could watch them. But at some point the debauchery (and the sundry base and vulgar ads) became too unbearable and so we gave up. I wasn't at all surprised to hear about all the filth in the opening ceremony - I did not watch it.

As we've come to expect, Stonestreet is less than helpful in addressing the salient issues. This time it's about families, technology, and the state. It continues to astonish me that parents have so little oversight or influence over their children that they are unable to curtail the problems associated with Smartphones and social media.

His categories are not Biblical but rather imported from the agents of Evangelical Enlightenment Protestantism, their politics, and their mammonist worldview.
The US Establishment doesn't want to jeopardize this key tool
by allowing it to become a political football. Also this vote and rejection of
Paul's amendment must be viewed in light of the Trump presidency and the damage
he did to NATO by suggesting Article 5 might be subject to question. Paul's
amendment more or less is a pathway to the same argument and uncommitted
position and as such not only weakens the treaty but effectively violates the
terms Washington already agreed to.
It's fascinating and perhaps even a little sad to reflect on
how the entire Covid episode could have played out in such different terms –
especially for the Christian Church in the United States.
I was disappointed but hardly surprised to find that a local 'Bible-believing' church leader posted anti-Covid material on Facebook.
In this case he couldn't believe the 'libtards' made such a
big deal about a virus that only had a .004% death rate.
This article doesn't reveal anything that I haven't already
read in numerous books and articles that have appeared over the past twenty
years. Every few years reports emerge of some new conference or gathering that
reveals the direction that these political movements are headed. They represent
the nexus of Christian-Right activism, academia, and the political order. It's always
changing but always the same.
There are a few noteworthy exceptions and points worth
highlighting in the case of this article.

I wasn't surprised to see this article. In some respects I'm
surprised more people aren't commenting on this. I was glad to see Greenwald
leave The Guardian in the aftermath of the Snowden revelations. The founding of
The Intercept looked promising but that too began to degenerate. And then in
2020, Greenwald went out on his own – it was real display of integrity, or at
least so I thought.

David Brooks is not a Christian and I know of Right-wing folk
who laugh at the notion that he's a conservative. This represents part of the
divide that I've been highlighting for years – the difference between elements
of the now almost defunct American Conservatism and the Right-wing Libertarian movement
that has largely supplanted it. There's overlap to be sure and people don't fit
into neat boxes but there's an ethos about the New Right and now Trumpism that's
remarkably different from what American Conservatism was a generation ago.
I often disagree with Brooks and sometimes strongly so, but I
will at least listen to what he has to say. Disagreement does not mean that his
commentary is utterly lacking any value.
Though this story has already faded away from the news cycle it will return and there are some elements concerning it that deserve reflection.

I do not endorse Lew Rockwell's website. I visit it just to
see what's being said in those circles. On occasion there's some foreign policy
insight but generally speaking the Libertarianism of the site is contrary to
New Testament doctrine and ethics.
And yet, there are many Christians taken in by their ethos
and values. It's a bit of strange brew – a lot of Traditionalist Catholicism,
Bircher-types, sometimes beyond-the-pale conspiracy stuff, mixed with
Neo-Confederatism and a lot of other things. Sometimes there's something interesting
but often it's more of an occasion to shake one's head.
