It's right that the United States is pledging more aid but of
course this must be understood in light of Vietnam's position vis-à-vis China.
Washington has a new ally in Hanoi, one it could have had back in the days
following World War II but that wasn't meant to be.

Indian Cotton and Farmer Suicides
Some will stumble because this link is to a documentary
produced by RT. But if you can get past that, there's some helpful information
and certainly some contextualisation with regard to GMO cotton and its place in
contemporary India.
No doubt at this point many have heard about the thousands of
farmers committing suicide. While this phenomenon antedates the Modi
administration, his market friendly policies if anything are exacerbating the
problem. It's a controversial issue and a great deal of ink is spilled arguing
over statistics and causes.

The Real Issue in the Nutrition Wars
When considering what must be called the Nutrition Wars I
think many are actually missing the real issue.
By Nutrition Wars I mean the whole range of argument and
debate over organic vs. industrial foods, arguments over preservatives and
chemicals and so forth.

Wikileaks we learned that the Bush administration wanted to punish EU countries
that wouldn't accept the importation and use of genetically modified (GM)
crops. This wasn't the first time the administration went to bat for Monsanto
and the 'Big Agra' conglomerates.
