AFR: Glorying Once More in its Shame

Recently, I received a message from AFR. Their longtime morning host is retiring – yet another Right-wing liar and deceiver who promotes mammon, war, and nationalism.

But who is replacing her? Another Christian feminist of an even worse stripe: Jenna Ellis

Here's the salient portion of the email:

"Jenna Ellis in the Morning" will begin January 2, 2023. Jenna Ellis is a constitutional law attorney and served as the senior legal adviser and personal counsel to former President Donald J. Trump. She is the chairwoman of the Election Integrity Alliance, special counsel for the Thomas More Society, a Newsmax contributor, and host of "The Jenna Ellis Show" podcast. She is also the author of The Legal Basis for a Moral Constitution.

A Colorado native and evangelical Christian, Jenna was previously an assistant professor at Colorado Christian University, teaching legal studies and coaching the moot court and debate programs. She currently teaches at Summit Ministries and is a fellow with the Centennial Institute. She holds a B.A. in technical journalism from Colorado State University and a J.D. from the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law.

I believe Jenna will be an excellent addition to the American Family Radio network and will provide valuable commentary on the issues of our day and do so from a biblical perspective.

Sincerely,

Tim Wildmon

And who is Jenna Ellis? She was Rudy Giuliani's right hand man during his machinations to overthrow the election. Election Integrity Alliance is a political operation attempting to subvert elections and democracy in general. A vocal Dominionist, she doesn't actually believe in the US Constitution though she pretends to be an expert on it. She is actually part of a larger movement to subvert the Constitution and implant deep changes within its structure. How this is patriotic or Originalist I don't pretend to know.

Newsmax is little more than a lie factory for the people that are so far gone that FOX is reckoned too liberal for them. But what this really means is that FOX (as awful and biased as it is) isn't biased enough. It doesn't utterly slant all coverage to conform to the Far Right's line and as such these people turn to outlets like Newsmax – actively seeking lies that will tickle their ears. And on Newsmax they just might find Jenna Ellis.

In addition to her attempts to subvert the elections, and given her participation in the planning for the January 6 coup attempt – by many estimations this woman should be in prison. But as a Christian I am far more concerned that with women like Ellis, the Evangelical movement continues to brandish its feminist proclivities and allegiances. Aside from the theological error and departure from New Testament doctrine and its norms of the Christian life and femininity she clearly rejects, I am continually concerned (maybe even alarmed) about the popularity of outlets like AFR and figures like Ellis. Lying has become the norm. Ellis lies about her credentials. This is well documented. She lies about what she stands for with regard to America and of far greater consequence and import – where she stands with regard to Scripture.

She lies about politics, and the news. She strengthens the hands of those who commit evil and then justifies it on the basis of supposedly fighting evil.

We cannot excuse who she is and what she does simply because she's willing to publically condemn homosexuality. So what? Muslims, Hindus, Jews, and even rank infidels do the same.

She's also been exposed as a sellout, a political whore who at one time opposed Trump – on the basis that any Christian should. The man is evil. But then once he was in power she promptly switched gears and sold her soul. Her Faustian bargain has now garnered her a radio slot which will boost her profile and while her salary probably won't be as impressive as it was in the legal sector (I wonder how many of those doors are still open to her), she will become an Evangelical celebrity and undoubtedly write books, speak at conferences, and generate a substantial income. She'll be a good fit at AFR.
