This TRT article caught my eye because while it seems to justify Right-wing narratives about either labs in China or perhaps a US-China collusion and Covid cover-up. The reality is the US has been engaged in this kind of research (and pernicious activity) for some time - and I'm not talking about a manufactured pandemic or even a Coved cover-up.

DNI Gabbard herself is not one to be trusted as she did a complete flip-flop - selling out to power. At one time she had set herself up as a kind of independent dissident and instead jumped aboard the Trump Train when she had the chance. In many circles she is utterly despised.

Did people like Biden and Fauci lie in 2020-2021? Of course they did but this is nothing new. Are we to imagine previous Republican administrations to be any better? In the case of such laboratories and research - these are issues that transcend party politics. And Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence (DNI) should know the CIA operates on its own level and often with its own agenda.

But then again as DNI, there's also a plausible chance she didn't know or that many things were kept hidden from her. In creating the DNI position, Bush did not succeed in consolidating US intelligence, rather he simply created another massive (and largely parallel and redundant) bureaucracy parked in the midst of suburban Northern Virginia - across the free-way from the Tyson's Corner shopping mall.

Are we to believe that such operations in Ukraine emerged only after 2022? Try again. The US has been contending for Ukraine vis-à-vis Moscow since the 1990's - leading up to the American-sponsored coup in 2014. This in turn led to the Russian annexation of Crimea, the open backing of Donbass paramilitaries, and finally the 2022 invasion - an act of 'unprovoked naked aggression', or rather, a story that has also been manipulated and spun at almost every turn.

The untold story here is also about American interest in biological and chemical weapons - programmes that were disavowed decades ago but many believe to have continued under clandestine means outside US borders and the jurisdiction of organisations such as the FBI. And to speak of these programmes as having ended under Nixon is not entirely accurate given the US maintains a 'defensive' programme. If that's anything like 'missile defense' then the lines become rather blurry.

And while I wouldn't wish to throw any bones to Right-wing media (who are self-serving, obtuse, and utterly insincere), this story also flies in the face of Establishment outlets who previously decried such suggestions as conspiracy-mongering. Will they own up to their errors and bias? Don't count on it.

On the Ukrainian side of things, this story re-opens old wounds as the media previously condemned Moscow's claims of Ukraine bio-labs as disinformation. Undoubtedly some will use this occasion to dismiss the revelations suggesting that Gabbard is corrupt and guilty of politicisation (which is also true to some extent).

The Ukrainians themselves are also seemingly keen to disavow these stories. Do they fear retribution from the US Congress or the Europeans? The Trump people are obviously trying to spin this as an anti-Biden story but anyone with half a brain should realize it's much bigger than that.

More will undoubtedly emerge. Until then we have to wait and see what can be dug up. I'm sure there are investigative reporters on it, but I must say this is a story that I could see turning quite dangerous for those who probe too far. It's a dark labyrinthine world with many secrets.
