Whether direct US agents or through proxies, whether by direct order or by an insinuation, someone in Washington ordered this hit. Traditionally it would have been CIA, but the Pentagon has its own intelligence special operations forces. The Pentagon has the most to lose from a prosecution, but at the same time there would be some caution before they just sent in special ops to assassinate someone.
That would be the conventional thinking but of course under the Trump-Hegseth Pentagon, some of that thinking no longer applies.
Would Pete Hegseth give such an order? Do you doubt it?
Another distinct possibility is that this was carried out by proxy - namely a unit connected to Ecuadorian president Daniel Naboa - a creature of the United States and its interests. A would-be dictator, Naboa has already accumulated a tally of extra judicial killings, disappearances, and torture charges.
Another case that received some attention (in alternative media) was the death of Monika Silva - again connected to Naboa. She was investigating his business affairs when she was strangled and suffered a major head trauma. The government insisted it was a suicide.
The Silva killing makes a kind of evil sense, but to kill the prosecutor investigating American killings? Either it was a gesture of goodwill to Washington, or it was suggested, or it was just simply ordered. No matter which way you look at it, the US bears (at the very least) some of the blame, if not all of it.
