I had to drive down into AFR world today – that is I had to drive within range of the American Family Radio signal. This station, considered a titan in the Evangelical world is to put it simply a disgrace. Every time I listen to it I have to shake my head in disbelief. The programming is appalling. Clearly the Wildmon clan exist to serve the interests of the GOP and the various monied interests of the American Right.
They have tried to cover up their culture war tracks and the
legacy of their Right-wing political and economic advocacy by employing various
Black show hosts – like FOX they are desperate to promote a non-racist image.
As I've said before if you're a minority and willing to sell yourself to the
Right-wing line you can get a job in Right-wing broadcasting.
Every time I listen, I have to laugh. Awhile back I was
listening to prosperity gospel proponent Bishop EW Jackson and one of the callers
was mocking the name of Ketanji Jackson – her first name obviously suspect,
right? The Bishop hosting the show (who is also Black) just ignored the racist
implications and yet I wonder – does he ever pause and think about the
organisation he's joined himself to – and the nature of its listeners?
No, I don't think he does. Money can cover a multitude of
sins it would seem. I happened to catch him again today, and almost agog at
what I heard, I looked into him some more when I got home. I have to say, he's
worse than I thought.
I couldn't quite make it out but it seemed like one of his callers
was spouting off something about the Jews but I could be mistaken. Whatever was
being said, Jackson didn't want to hear it and moved on.
But what I did hear was unmistakable and it was telling. His
audience is comprised of lost, deceived, and in many cases just plain stupid
people. But it's clear he's not much better and yet after listening to The Core
with one of the Wildmons (it doesn't matter which one as they're all effectively
clones) – I was even less impressed. AFR purports to stand for Christ but it's
an organisation of lies and manipulation, promoting the interests of Wall
Street and the Republican Party. It's the
end justifies the means at AFR. Lie with abandon. It's okay because as long
as you're fighting abortion you can tell lies – even if they lead to theft and
murder. They care about 'life' and then support wars, deadly economic policies
and the like. Everything is permissible as long as the 'pro-life' party wins
the day – as long as the interests of the Christian Right and its financial
backers are served.
Within just a short time 'Bishop' Jackson fielded a series of
calls and he never challenged any of the assertions – he just let the lies and
fear mongering roll. Looking at past episodes of his show it's clear that's all
he's about. He's a deceived deceiver to be sure but more than anything else
he's a spiritual whore.
Yes, the FDA is coming after our backyard gardens. Sure.
Of course he's part of the aggressive fear campaign pushing
the food shortage which in my Right-wing area is bearing fruit. There is no
food shortage but the FOX, Newsmax, OAN, AFR worlds promote this heavily and I
know Christians that are scrambling to hoard food. They're spending thousands
of dollars on freeze driers and one fool I know rather well, has taken to
amassing piles of edible weeds because the big communist takeover is coming. Of
course this same informed consumer of history and news was convinced last
spring that Putin would soon be storming through rural Pennsylvania and he was
making preparations. I guess when Putin couldn't even take Kyiv he figured it
out – but it doesn't matter because now it's something else. Now it's NATO and
the UN are going to come and take our guns away. It's clear he doesn't
understand much of anything about how the world works. I guess his years of
slavishly following Glenn Beck and Mark Levine haven't worked out so well for
him. They're sure happy to take his money – and he's happy to give it.
These people are stupid to be sure and to be pitied and yet
the media figures that are pumping them full of these lies are at fault.
'Bishop' Jackson and AFR are certainly among them – they are agents of deceit
and manipulation, strengthening the hands of those that do evil in the name of combating
other evils. They have completely lost their way.
Then there was the obligatory Soros fear-mongering – as these
fools do not understand that Soros has for decades worked hand-in-hand with the
US government to spread the American Empire. Their attempts to paint him as a
Nazi and the grand architect of all that is evil is tiresome and reeks of the
fascistic rhetoric and baiting coming out of places like Hungary. Soros is an
evil man but not for the reasons they think.
The narrative loop tying Soros' funding of European Color
Revolutions (which are US projects) to Antifa and the like is prima facie
absurd and all rooted in Bircher fantasies and total misunderstandings of the
nature of American society and government.
And of course Antifa is part of the stolen election myth
narrative.
According to Bishop Jackson's fantasy narrative of American
life and politics, money is being given to Iran don't you know – more Alex
Jones-style manipulations of the truth. Yes, the US is sending money to Iran to
be sure. They're funding the unrest on the streets with a hope of overturning
the government. And the money sent to Iran years ago (post-JPCOA) that made the
Right tear its hair out – was simply money the US stole from Iran back in 1979.
Washington had a golden opportunity to start laying a bit of diplomatic groundwork
with Tehran but Trump tore up the agreement and Biden has demonstrated his
insincerity in terms of restoring it – in other words he's not interested
either as he can't give Tehran even the most bare and basic guarantees
regarding the integrity of the plan or the removal of sanctions. I realize in
saying that much I've already lost the AFR audience.
But Biden is coming after Christian Radio! Watch out!
Listening to the audience, how can I not pity these people? I
can tell by their voices that many are older than me. Have they no memories? We
heard the same things under Obama and Clinton. In fact both of those
administrations were supposedly going to turn America communist too!
Nothing these people say ever comes true. Does no one realize
that these folks are subpar political commentators and when it comes to
economics they are completely clueless?
We're supposed to believe that incoming military recruits are
being told that they may have to fight Americans and (make sure you follow the
logic) since illegal immigrants join the military with the promise of
citizenship – we should be afraid. Because these immigrants don't share
American values, they'll be more than happy to wage war against US citizens.
Is Wal-mart putting something in its meat? Wow. Where to even
begin? How does one even respond to something so utterly stupid and farcical?
And of course there were the obligatory hysterics about the
Strategic Oil Reserve and the (undoubted) political ploy of Biden to tap it
once more to try and keep prices down – yes, just weeks before the election. It
is a cynical move but I had to laugh listening to the grave concerns over the
reserve's depletion. This is very concerning we're told even though these same
clowns vigorously defended Bush when he tapped into it.
This is a Christian issue – the Strategic Oil Reserve?
And finally – yes, apparently Barack Obama is gay. That's
what the good bishop said. I know some fools who try and argue that Michelle is
even a man. How can anyone take these people seriously?
This is judgment. This is not Spirit-wrought wisdom, this is
Spirit-wrought judgment on these people. They're not discerning. They've
abandoned discernment and have been turned into fools. They're being played
like fiddles by the big money that backs the Christian Right.
As far as the good 'Bishop' and the folks at AFR – they're
just a bunch of crooks and swindlers.
In their promos they talk about cultural transformation. And
the 'Bishop' decries the cultural rot in America. Well, guess what? They're
part of that rot and God help you if you think you're going to transform
culture by means of deceit. God help you.
