Pompeo's Sacrilege

Pompeo should fill all Christians with righteous indignation. His statements should fill us with dread.

Pompeo sadly displays signs of reprobation, of a conscience that has been seared. He blindly serves the American Empire and is an apologist for its crimes, for its thefts and murders and even worse he does these things even while claiming to be a 'Christian' leader, serving in an especially corrupt and morally offensive administration.
He has openly sought the overthrow of governments, promoted war and lies with abandon. I tremble for Mike Pompeo and I likewise tremble for the Church leaders who have given their sanction and blessing to his 'vocation'.
Does Pompeo seek the wisdom of God? It's found in the New Testament, the collection of writings that provide an ethic that is antithetical to the code Pompeo has chosen to live by. He is not only a fool but is functionally an apostate.
Does he really believe that he's a force for good in the life of human beings? Ask them. He is a force for wealth and power for a segment of his constituents, for his political allies and for some of the Evangelicals who praise him and the administration he serves. But for the rest of the world, Pompeo represents a regime of terror, a rogue state deeply hypocritical and dangerous, a system which perverts justice and manipulates circumstance to its advantage and all too often to the great harm of others. But most of all, he is clearly a pathological liar.
Sacralist theology as manifested in modern Dominionism has generated a consequentialist ethic. The goal is power and thus behaviours that normally would be considered unethical are given a pass, because they serve the overall 'good' goal. In other words people like Pompeo live by a simple creed, the end justifies the means. He's doing these otherwise evil things to build the Kingdom of God.
But these are not in service of righteousness. These things do not glorify God. A worshipper of mammon and all that it brings, Pompeo is a force for destruction. As an instructor at West Point, as head of the CIA and now the State Department, Pompeo has blood on his hands and he will answer for it.
The open Bible on his desk will be his undoing. He is literally heaping up judgment against himself and those that approve of his evil.
His mind is neither humble nor renewed. He has confused godliness with gain and has confused hubris with meekness. Worldliness has been transformed into piety even as the love of money (the heart of what America is and stands for) is made devotion. The wars and suffering it spawns are holy exercises.
Woe to Pompeo and those like him who twist passages like the Prodigal Son. These sections of Scripture which teach lessons regarding the Gospel and the Kingdom are perverted by people like Pompeo (the Sunday School teacher) and used to affirm worldly paradigms. They are de-covenantalised, de-Scripturalised and turned into profane aphorisms.
The secular realm decries his religious partisanship. He is a partisan but not for Christianity. Pompeo and his ilk serve another god and another religion. In the end they represent merely another faction of the same American idolatry that their secular cousins engage in. The difference is theirs contains a gloss, it is dressed up to look like something else. But scratch beneath the surface and it's just another Babel and destined to fall as all Beast powers are wont to do. For Pompeo, serving America and serving Christ are the same thing. To the secularists that's not America and to Christians, that's not Christ... but an imposter, an antichrist wrapped in an American flag.
While all should decry the immorality that dominates American culture as expressed in children born out of wedlock and the like... True Christians are just as grieved by the millions of people dead from America's wars and its economic system which impoverishes nations, destroys societies and pillages the world. It's not one viewpoint or the other. It's both, and both are immoral and tragic.
Forcing people to pretend they're Christians may create an illusion, a vapour that appears to be Christianity but in the end it is revealed to have no substance. Perhaps for these folks, it's enough. Their Christianity is in the end little more than a vapour so it shouldn't surprise us that this is the best they can come up with.
Evangelicals rejoice when people in government pay them lip service. They're fools. Pompeo is in reality a dangerous heretic, a sell-out and a wolf in sheep's clothing. Except it's only the Evangelicals who see him as a sheep. No one else in the world sees him that way. He is after all a minion of Donald Trump.
