This is an excellent article giving a quick overview and
summary of American activities in Africa and does much to explain some of the
different and frankly complicated angles as to the what and why.
The real story is far more intricate and difficult and
there's quite a bit of colonial and Cold War history involved. To be quite
honest the average person is going to struggle in grasping it all. But even a
cursory glance, a selected skimming of this article will expose the reader to
the multitude of activities and engagements within Africa. It also is something
of a window into how the Empire works.
I'm not pretending that China isn't about the same type of
business. However they have not been able to project militarily as the United
States has. That would bring confrontation. But China's activities aren't being
backed by and supported by the Christian Church while the same cannot be said
with regard to the United States, its actions and policies.
I left the following comment and then I've added a couple
more below:
This is the old Imperial machine at work. Business, Politics
and Military all working together to advance the interests (sic) and demands of
the Empire. An organization like the CIA, spans and interacts with all three
sectors.
It's all part of the new Great Game, the new Scramble for
Africa. It's about getting resources but also trying to make sure others aren't
able to get them.
Don't be fooled. It's not about getting Kony or anyone else.
The United States is more than happy to employ such characters. Everyone seems
to have forgotten about the Cold War.
Some will grow very rich from these endeavours while the
people there will largely suffer as a result. When some of them reach the
breaking point and do something desperate, the American public won't understand
why, will become angry and support military intervention.
More will die and more people (some of the same as before)
will make even more money.
The American public will wonder where all the flowers have
gone and the people in Africa will be crying out:
American
woman, I said get away
American woman, listen when I say
Don't come hangin' round my door
Don't wanna see your face no more
I don't need your war machines
I don't need your ghetto scenes
American woman, listen when I say
Don't come hangin' round my door
Don't wanna see your face no more
I don't need your war machines
I don't need your ghetto scenes
...All jokes aside, it's quite a serious business. It's a
vicious game that will lead to a lot of suffering. Well in addition to the
Business, Military and Political wings of the Empire...all operating with and
at times at the behest of Intelligence sector control and prompting...there's
another element.
The Christian element. Christian organizations have been at
work in Africa. Christian businessmen are busy forging alliances and are one of
the planks the Empire uses to back puppets and foster interests. Watch Uganda
and South Sudan especially. These countries (coupled with Kenya and Ethiopia)
have become key planks in the Imperial strategy in the East of Africa.
In the west, Nigeria is coming apart at both ends and American
business, politics, and the Church are either involved or becoming involved.
The last stage will be the military.
Many Christians naively believe they're helping and some see
what's happening but believe it's either right or for the greater long-term
good. While I don't doubt the sincerity of many missionaries, the historical
record is also a bit dubious. There have been occasions where they too have
proven dupes for business and political interests.
Regardless, even the missionaries who are intentionally
a-political are caught up in all of it, and like it or not they are
representing or perceived to be representing Imperial interests.
