Margolis is always an interesting read. He gives a good summary of the situation without reading the geopolitics through an American filter.
In the end, even if you don't agree with Margolis or me, take these other views into account. The average American media consumer is drinking from a pretty shallow well.
What does it matter? As I've said before, you don't need to become an expert on the Middle East or any other region or subject. That's not the issue. What matters is that we should want to know the truth.
And in this case when our government is spending billions of dollars and people are dying...we should be paying attention...especially if the government is about to launch into another adventure.
But on an even greater level... we're going to interact with both believers and unbelievers and these topics will certainly come up. And frankly most Christians in the United States are in the grip of another religion, one that embraces a different set of ethics, values, aspirations, understanding of history etc... If we want to answer them, help them...then we need to be able to speak humble truth to their distortions regarding both what is happening and what the Bible teaches.
