Inbox: No to The Biden Alternative

If Trump is so wrong for the Christian Church to embrace, was Biden a viable alternative?

Of course not. As I've repeatedly argued, to politicise and to vote is to participate in and endorse the system which is in fact evil. In terms of Providence it serves a purpose and thus we don't oppose the system on political terms. Calling men to repentance, we warn of the coming Judgment and we offer hope of life for those who unite with Christ. But our task is not to challenge the powers that be for they are ordained by God. I couldn't care less if the president of the United States is a Republican or a Democrat – he's still the president of the United States and thus represents the American system.

The Christian factor complicates these questions and effectively draws us in – again, not into the political equation but into the theological constructions utilised by the wayward and apostatising Church as it seeks to form alliance with the state and its bestial system.

Biden is an evil man. He only seems 'good' when Trump is used as the baseline – which is a false standard. Remove Trump from the equation and Biden is not a moral person. Not in the least. His career is marked by corruption and deceit and for eight years as vice-president he touted lies and as Obama's bulldog he went around the world issuing threats. His rhetoric was nauseating and the idea that somehow his victory will restore the 'soul of America' – please. I pity the people that fall for this stuff, the people dancing in the streets and the like. Apparently they've learned nothing and don't realise that they're in for a terrible disappointment.

Biden may be awful but I have little fear of him deceiving or seducing the Church. He will promote the status quo which is characterised by a type or degree of stability. Obviously the system itself being corrupted, immoral, and deceitful, it promotes strife and sets up the conditions for its own self-destruction.  Isn't that clear by now?

On the one hand 'normalcy' after Trump seems pretty attractive, on the other hand normalcy is to return to the American dominated global order that overthrows governments, sells weapons, manipulates elections, backs dictators, starts wars, steals, exploits, and can't seem to go very long without bombing something. This won't change. Biden is not some turn in the direction of good even if he'll do these things with a smile on his face and package them in the language of enlightened liberal values. It is truly obscene and I'm not being facetious in the least.

But Trump wasn't just a bull in a China shop. He was stirring up deep and disturbing things – existing problems that in many cases Trump didn't create – but he was making the poisonous brew start to boil and more than anything I was disturbed at how the Church was being pulled into it and transformed by it.

That said, Biden may drive the Church over the edge. Having lost all discernment and being sold out to their idols we may see people start to really lose it. Time will tell.

Again, I'm glad Trump lost but that doesn't mean for a moment that I endorse, like or am in any way shape or form encouraged by the prospect of a Biden presidency. Nothing has changed apart from the fact that Trump may soon be removed from the political scene. But even if he concedes defeat and leaves the White House, he's not going away. Rage, a desire for vengeance and his unquenchable avarice will motivate him to start a news channel or some other endeavour. Hopefully a Biden-led FCC will block Trump's efforts.

I'm sorry to say he'll still be on the scene for awhile but I'm hoping that maybe for some Christians the aura that surrounded him will disappear, the patina will fade and become tarnished. Maybe it will generate some soul searching. I doubt it – but it isn't wrong to hope.
