Though he was forced out over six months ago, the UK's Blair-ite controlled Labour Party has persisted in their conspiracy to destroy Jeremy Corbyn and any hint of his legacy. He's still an MP and apparently there's fear that his wing of the party may come back at some point. And so while he's down, Keir Starmer and those that back him are maneuvering to take Corbyn out of the equation.
He's being forced to pay for his long-term recalcitrance – the
end result will be that he's effectively (if not actually) expelled from the
party. As leader he managed to hang on quite a bit longer than anyone would
have believed possible and there's a real desire to make him pay for it.
Again, the charges of Anti-Semitism are ridiculous. Most of
the accusations have not been directly levied at Corbyn but at his bloc within
Labour. But his current crime is that he recently downplayed the charges. How
dare he! Off with his head! – that seems to be the tone and tenor of the
rhetoric.
Labour members have made statements against the state of
Israel which cannot be deemed as automatically Anti-Semitic when there are
large blocs of Jews in the UK, US, and even Israel that decry the political ideology
of Zionism and the policies of the Israeli government – especially under the
very fascist-like leadership of Likud. The Israeli Right has a long history of
flirting with fascism and even race-based ideology. It cannot be denied. It is
perfectly permissible, proper and even moral to criticise the Israeli regime.
This is not to engage in anything smacking of Anti-Semitism or Holocaust
denial.
But instead what has happened is the very powerful Israeli
lobby has worked (both in the UK and in the US) to outlaw any criticism of
their rather brutal regime. Their Right-wing allies (including those in the DNC
and Labour) have picked up on this and run with it. Others like Starmer are
simply using this as a 'politically correct' pretense to settle scores.
I would hope that Corbyn would come out swinging but he's
proven to be pretty tepid and weak. He doesn't back down but he won't fight
back. It's admirable in some respects but the truth needs to be proclaimed.
These bullies need to be called out and their chicanery exposed. His method
allows him to hold on to his position but the lies go unchallenged. It doesn't
work in the political sphere. If one is going to play the political game – then
play it or at the very least tell the truth and if that results in you going
down in flames then at least you did your part.
But to be fair, I'm not sure how much of a voice Corbyn is
allowed to have. The BBC is patently against him and even ostensibly
'Left'-leaning outlets like The Guardian are too. The latter is really part of
the Pseudo-Left – left when it comes to identity politics and social mores but
Right-wing when it comes to the financial and security establishments, a
champion of 'humanitarian' wars and the like.
The real reason Corbyn is opposed is that he's against
Atlanticism and has criticised NATO and the many US-led wars which due to the
'special relationship' are bound to include the UK. He also indicated that he
might move to dismantle portions of the UK's nuclear arsenal. For this reason
he's viewed by the Anglo-American Establishment as unsuitable and they want him
gone and blacklisted.
In some respects I can't help but respect Corbyn but on the
other hand I cannot understand him and find him utterly frustrating. I can't
see the point in his actions while the dishonest and scheming moves made by his
enemies make perfect sense.
