The fact that new Syriza leader Stefanos Kasselakis is a
sodomite does not make him Left-wing – any more than was his predecessor Alex
Tsipras. Tsipras who ran on Leftist platform and formed a coalition to that
end, was revealed as a tool of the bankers and the EU Establishment.
Tsipras had a genuine Left-wing CV but he abandoned it once
he became the head of a governing party. In the case of Kasselakis, his
background is telling – a kind of living parable concerning the course of
Syriza and other similar parties like Podemos in Spain and even the DNC in the
United States.
Kasselakis is connected to the Center for Strategic and
International Studies (CSIS), one of the flagship think-tanks of Atlanticist
Imperialism. And in addition to this background, Kasselakis spent time at
Goldman Sachs. This is not the resume of a Leftist ideologue. It's hardly
surprising that he also fit in rather nicely with the American DNC and the
Biden campaign. As is so often the case capitalism drives these movements. They
utilise humanitarianism when it comes to geopolitics in order to provide a
fig-leaf for what is in the final analysis little more than rapacious and
avarice-driven brutality. They are capitalists and imperialists with a twinge
of conscience or even a kind of bleeding-heart pragmatism. But that's as far as
it goes.
And another trick these parties use is the sham of identity
politics. It would seem that in selecting a homosexual leader, Syriza is
attempting to establish its 'left' bona fides even as it deceives the Greek
public.
We shall see what the election brings and whether this
continued deceit will lead to the re-emergence of the extreme Right. Golden
Dawn was suppressed but it has not gone away and the fact that it had support
within the police and state security apparatus indicates that it could return
readily enough – perhaps in some permutated or re-packaged form along the lines
of what Marine LePen has attempted to do with the Front National (now National
Rally) in France.
