Russia's Heresy Museum

It is entirely appropriate that this farcical museum contains a Constantine Room, for this form of counterfeit Christianity has its genesis in the fourth century. Begun by Constantine, the Christianisation project would be completed by the reign of Theodosius II. Seventeen centuries later the Church has never recovered from it and its poison has worked its way into the farthest recesses of the Church on Earth. Indeed there are few who seem able to question its basic suppositions, and even fewer who can divorce their thinking from its assumptions.

The museum may be dedicated to so-called Christian Culture but what it celebrates has little to do with the Christian Church as delineated by the New Testament. The culture it celebrates is a story of compromise with the world and the attempt by the False Church to sanctify Babel by slapping a cheap imitation-gold cross upon its summit.

Christian iconography, the glory of the Orthodox is in fact it shame – an indictment demonstrating the idolatrous Church was wed to power and benefitted from a population kept ignorant of the Scriptures. The Church should have led the way in promoting literacy – in demanding it. We are the People of the Book. But instead the Church (both Latin and Greek) promoted the 'sacred' arts as a means to distract and silence those who would (through the study of the Scriptures) challenge its claims and the assumptions of the political order it was wed to.

It is a monument to the great heresy of the Church Age and a memorial to shame.
