Non-Citizen Voting and National Review

Before you embrace the hysteria being generated by the National Review article regarding non-citizens voting in US elections, at the very least have a look at these two posts...

It's kind of like the mostly ridiculous notion that illegal aliens are receiving food stamps or any kind of government sponsored welfare. To sign up for any of these programmes you must have a Social Security number. The first thing the agency wants is either a paycheck stub or a copy of your tax return. To have either you must have a SSN.

There are work-around's in some states. If your child is a US citizen, and thus has a SSN it is possible to get some benefits for them alone.

Generally speaking illegal aliens are reticent to have any dealings with the government. The last thing they want to do is get on voter registration rolls and risk being called for jury duty and things like that. They're trying to stay below the radar.

I don't believe the National Review on this point or many for that matter. Their track record and credentials are from my perspective, pretty dubious.
