Led by the United States, NATO is attempting to expand into
the Asian theatre in preparation for war with China. NATO is opening an office
in Japan, and the US in addition to strengthening ties with Australia, the
Philippines and other nations, is preparing to negotiate for new bases in Papua
New Guinea.
We can hope that Seoul will have enough sense to stay out of
the war in Ukraine. If South Korea becomes involved, then such a move has the
potential to irritate neighbouring states like China and North Korea. An
expansion and escalation of this nature has the potential to transform what is now
a European war into a global one – and it seems clear enough there are some
within the American Establishment that want this very thing.
It is course utter madness and ultimately self-destructive.
But as is often the case the war hawks are the last people to count the costs.
And one hopes the people of Papua New Guinea will realize they're being sold
out by their ruling class who will cash in on US investment – even while they
turn their country into a target for Chinese bombs in the coming war that has
all but been declared.
