Resistance to AUKUS

This is certainly a story that will not make it into mainstream US media – as the US Establishment doesn't even want such questions raised about the AUKUS alliance. And if the story emerges in other venues you can be certain that operatives and 'commentators' will spin the story and make transform these protestors into 'China stooges' or something along those lines. They might even find a way to blame Putin for it.

Seriously though, I could not help but have a degree of appreciation for the nuanced views of these protestors. They rightly sense the danger in this militaristic move on the part of Canberra (at the behest of Washington) and rather than just offer a negative response they instead propose a very different vision for the port, one in which it serves a different kind of economy, and one more productive and morally sensible than what is produced by military bases – both culturally and politically.

It was almost refreshing to read about even though it's undoubtedly doomed to fail.
