Lone voices of truth in a world of lies

http://ericmargolis.com/2013/07/spying-run-amok/

The media spins, manipulates and often softens the news to flatter their corporate masters.

The politicians look right into the camera and lie. They speak of shock and disapproval. They say they're investigating and carefully monitoring. In reality they're either scheming of complicit.

Politicians care only about maintaining power. Nothing else matters.

The European public has been slowly waking up. There were always dissenters even during the Cold War, but since the fall of the Wall, a growing number of people are questioning the world order and why their governments cater so excessively to American interests and agendas.

This latest episode with Snowden and the president of Bolivia was an eye-opener. American media barely discussed it and now it's ancient history not worthy of revisiting.

But others are digesting the profundity of what happened and many are startled.

During the Cold War the United States had Allies, while the Soviets had Satellites. Finally some people are waking up and realizing this too was a euphemistic spinning of the truth.

Today people speak bluntly of the Soviet Empire, but using 'empire' with regard to the United States raises both eyebrows and ire.

I continue to contend America has the greatest propaganda machine in the history of the world. Germany's Goebbels and the Soviet ministry of propaganda seem like child's play.

As some Russian citizens have said after living in the West....we watched the news and knew it was lies but in America people watch it and actually believe it.

I often watch the CBS Evening News online. These people tout themselves as professionals. They're respectable. They're 'real' journalists. I don't know how they look at themselves in the mirror. They are nothing more than shills for the regime. They are entertainers at best. Do some of them know it? I think so. Because some of them leave (on occasion) and join other organizations. But most of them think they're being responsible and producing a product that people will watch and brings them some information.

The American public is like the frog in the pot that's slowly heated. They're being tricked but don't realize it. Speaking of the media as Left or Right is just a smokescreen. The mainstream media from FOX to MSNBC has an inherent American bias. They all operate within the same circle and when the truth is out of bounds, they simply spin it to match their demographic or all too often...ignore it.

Half-truths and omissions are still lies.

  1. I'd argue you can use the categories of "left" and "right" as lazy shorthand for the differing dreams of Empire. They want to build the walls in different patterns, but they're both trying to build a castle.

At least in terms of punditry, functionally a majority of the congress and the political machinery is on the same page, otherwise one might suspect there would be more blood in the streets. Yet there is only 2 members of congress (Ron Paul in the House and Sanders in the Senate) who even question the whole Empire party all together. And they are routinely dismissed as fringe or "radical". Truly black comedy.

The Margolis article, and your commentary, were good. Thanks.
