Snowden in Moscow and Morales in Vienna

http://wikileaks.org/Statement-from-Edward-Snowden-in.html

An interesting statement from Snowden although perhaps I am more surprised that someone in his position is surprised by American actions.

Did he think Washington was going to him slip away to Latin America or Iceland? At this point they probably don’t know what else he has and might still reveal.

What I found to be stunning was the sudden demonstration of American leverage to force down Bolivia’s presidential plane, forcing it to divert to Vienna and be searched! Can you imagine if Air Force One was told it couldn’t cross Iberian airspace and then was forced to land and was searched?

Bolivia denies the search….are they trying to save some face? It’s pretty humiliating especially for Morales who has tried to be one of the Latin American opposition leaders. He was just treated as insignificant and meaningless by the regime in Washington. He was put in his place. It was a win-win for Washington. If they grabbed Snowden, great. If not, they humiliated a hemispheric opponent.

So who’s lying Bolivia? Vienna?

Everyone is lying. France is claiming ‘conflicting information’… well, the conflict might have been they received alarming messages from the American Embassy and were pressured to act. Later when they realized what it was they regretted their actions.

Regardless this little episode which will soon disappear from collective memory…in the real world we don’t need a Memory Hole…is quite instructive.

I think of so many American Conservatives and Evangelicals who fear the One World Government.

They live in it. Tomorrow they’ll be singing its praises. The One World Government is the United States. No other country could have displayed such power and done it so…casually.
