Palantir the Harbinger of Doom

Always cast as a means to stop figures like Bernie Madoff and child molesters, computer programs like Palantir actually represent an attempt by the Deep State to recapture the Internet.

Apart from an Internet re-boot, or forced registration of all online activity, the powers that be will instead rely on these expansive and even sweeping technologies that foreshadow the doom and demise of civil liberties and social norms traced back to Magna Carta. The possibilities of the Internet have in one generation all but erased eight centuries of civil assumption and the norms of the Anglo-cultural tradition.

The so-called and misnamed Patriot Act of 2001 was but the first chapter in this project. It laid the groundwork and yet was born during the Internet's infancy. Sixteen years later we live in an era of Smartphones and Social Media. The Total Information Awareness (TIA) project of the would be despots who sit atop the pyramid of the Anglo-American Empire are even now preparing for the next phase.

Likewise it could be said that War on Terror has entered its version 2.0, having moved on from the early phase of the Afghan and Iraq Wars. Continued US involvement in these nations and many others are now focused on different goals and are plugged into a larger (but no less sinister) 21^st century agenda.

This predictive technology can be used for real world applications but can also be utilised and tweaked to justify action/response on the part of power-players. It is creating a sweeping justification for virtually unlimited power. Its street uses for law enforcement and military engagement will have somewhat limited value. The dissident class (which includes criminals real and imagined) will find ways to evade it... though this divorce from technology will necessarily limit their scope or spectrum of activity. Faithful Christians will increasingly find themselves relegated to this category.

And yet it is in the realm of finance that such technology is all but unstoppable. It is a means of wealth creation and management, manipulation and even sabotage.

The Guardian article alludes to Tolkien and the use of the Palantir by Saruman but the author seems unaware that it was ultimately a tool in Sauron's employ. This type of technology marks a transition to a new type of society, perhaps a new type of civilisation.

It is perhaps appropriate that this project was from the beginning a CIA backed endeavour run by an Evangelical apostate sodomite. If that doesn't perfectly describe the direction of the American Empire, then I don't know what does.

As dangerous as such a hope is, we must nevertheless continue to pray this all blows up in their face. In inevitably will but the fallout may prove to be something horrific. The prospect of this class reaping victory and maximising control of the world is too awful to contemplate.

God's ways are not our ways and yet if the days before the Parousia are indeed akin to the days of Noah... however that is taken... then indeed we can hope the Day of Christ is nigh. Regardless of whether it is tomorrow or in 10,000 years, we are to live as if it is even at the door.

Even so come Lord Jesus. This age is on the brink of an evil the world has not seen since antiquity, an evil that will make the 20^th century look like child's play.
