The Anti-Russia Campaign Exposed

https://thegrayzone.com/2021/02/20/reuters-bbc-uk-foreign-office-russian-media/

The greatest irony surrounding this story is that it reveals the British government is actively engaged in the very sorts of activities they repeatedly accuse Russia of. And don't think for a moment the US government is any different. I guarantee the campaign is actually on a more massive scale.

The existence of such a campaign has been plain to see. Just watch, listen to, or read mainstream Western news. It's been self-evident, especially for anyone who has been following the trajectory of Western-Russian relations over the past few decades. All this story reveals is a bit of the nuts and bolts and a very narrow window at that. Or to employ a cliché, this is but the tip of the iceberg. You can count on it.

The fact that it wasn't just an anti-Russia focus in the West was also interesting. The investigation reveals an active campaign in both Eastern Europe and Central Asia. I've noticed this as well. The West has its Atlanticist collaborators in Central and Eastern Europe and so that campaign wouldn't have to be very concentrated. But in Central Asia it's different and following their news as I do – it's been hard not to notice. Any outlet that's connected to the West has a decided bias. The stories slanted against both China and Russia are literally daily affairs.

For its part Western media has degenerated into a near parody. On NPR or the BBC you can barely go a half-an-hour without the seemingly obligatory anti-Russia or anti-Beijing story. I don't watch a lot of CNN because it has become ridiculous and a haunt of sodomites. But when I have seen it – it's even worse. And in terms of the major networks, the nightly news (generally speaking) has only about fifteen minutes of actual content and so the campaign doesn't hit as hard – because at best they only have time for a very short segment.

As far as regime change in Syria – why is anyone surprised? We've seen this before. The Iraq War promotion in 2002 and early 2003 was blatant and overwhelming and the media served as little more than a mouthpiece for the Establishment.

The scope of the revelations are noteworthy. While the hundreds of journalists that are reckoned part of the programme (and probably on some form of payroll) represent a bigger number than I would have guessed – again, it's not too surprising. We knew the US government was involved in this sort of thing as far back as the 1950's and 1960's. The British are no different. In many cases they all but taught the Americans their craft.

While it does not mean that all these journalists take direct orders or always in full compliance, the reality that so many are taking government pay and willing to collaborate (at some level) demonstrates just how compromised and corrupt journalism is in general. There are very few that operate with integrity and even fewer that are really and truly qualified to report on the subjects they are associated with.

I have never had any doubt about the slanted reporting regarding Belarus. Lukashenko is an authoritarian to be sure but the reporting has been ridiculous and the unrest has been fueled by the West.

To say the coverage of Navalny is slanted is an understatement. The elephant in the room is the fact that media won't report who he is. If you placed him in any Western context he would be blacklisted as an ultra-right politician with fascist sympathies. And yet because he's against Putin, he's the darling of Western media, the 'liberal' who can do no wrong.

This is not to say that the BBC or Reuters are of no value. They still are (all things considered) decent news outlets that provide general information. But in certain areas, they're terrible and that can be stated without qualification. Bellingcat for its part is a sham organisation created as pseudo-source and echo chamber for the international campaigns that NATO wishes to wage. It's every bit as bad as the fraudulent Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

From a Western perspective, the great sin of such an expose is that it falls into moral equivalence. When Britain and America engage in such behaviours – it's a moral good. When Russia does the same, even if on a far lesser scale, then it's a moral outrage and great evil.

Putin is certainly evil but for the West to criticise him or the media outlets in his country – the very notion is ridiculous. From a Christian standpoint it's a clash of evil Beasts and yet in the West many brethren have succumbed to one or more of the Anglo-American Beasts and their mouthpieces. This is (in the end) far more troubling and dangerous to the Church.

This story is far from over.
