Evangelicals Once Again Going to Egypt

https://churchleaders.com/news/510090-anti-christian-bias-task-force-religious-discrimination.html

This so-called 'Anti-Christian Bias Task Force' is part of Trump's plan to weaponize the Justice Department and his Evangelical allies are eager to cooperate and seek a position of preference and favour in US society and the legal system.

Some of the cases of supposed persecution were anything but were instead instances of Christians simply refusing to follow the ethics of the Bible and putting politics over their calling. As such they came into conflict with the state. In other cases they have experienced mild forms of opposition. Any narratives about glorifying God are immediately cancelled out by the resorting to litigation and now an attempt to use the power of the state itself to pursue their enemies - an expression and exercise of total disobedience to Christ's commands in the New Testament.

The tally of stories is mostly a chronicle of shame further confused by the absurdity of Christian Navy Seals - in other words Christian members of death squads. It's right up there with Christian strippers or prostitutes. The framing of the entire article is an exercise in frustration and confusion - typifying Evangelical thinking and ethics. The Bible is invoked but quickly dispensed with. Christianity is just a confused mishmash of civic virtue, patriotism, and Americanist religion wedded to a Christian terms and concepts. The religion of the New Testament is largely unknown to these people and when exposed to it - they are generally hostile.

This is going to Egypt for help - those believers who rely on the state for their strength and protection, who turn to Pharaoh for justice and for vengeance as opposed to faith and obedience in keeping with the commands of Christ and his apostles.

This is using Romans 13 to overthrow and cancel out Paul's arguments for Christian conduct in Romans 12. It is one of the most unfortunate and abused chapter divisions in Scripture as it sunders the flow of argument and the doctrinal-ethical points of connection Paul is making. Romans 13 is isolated, divorced from its context, and set up as a false ideal to be sought by Christians, a false sanctification of the state, or (in some instances) the basis of a misguided argument to delegitimize states and political movements they are opposed to.

Of course a great irony here is also the fact that Bondi herself cannot make any credible claims to being a Christian.

This is all too typical of the Evangelical movement - putting its own interests, status, and mammon-based security above obedience to Scripture. Sitting with Attorney-General Bondi, they glory in their shame and celebrate what is judgment on their consciences and a testament to their compromise.

If you're a Christian, you and your church must refuse to cooperate with such state entities. In fact, they need to be openly condemned and collaborators need to be called out and subjected to discipline.

This further demonstrates the lessons of Constantinianism have not been learned and like a dog returning to its vomit, the compromised worldly Church always returns to these same patterns - seeking alliance with Babylon and relying on its strength and the threat of its violence.
