Meloni and MSI

https://cne.news/article/1753-giorgia-meloni-woman-mother-and-christian

This article proudly proclaims Meloni's roots and ties to the MSI - the Italian Social Movement, the pro-Mussolini party that was founded in the aftermath of the war. The party would splinter in 1995 with one faction merging into Berlusconi's movement and the rest into smaller parties such as the Lega Nord (just Lega today) and the National Alliance (AN) - the party that Meloni cut her teeth in. Her Brothers of Italy (FdI) emerged from the AN, but the Mussolini-based roots are clear not only terms of political-institutional pedigree but ideology.

There's no challenge by the Christian Network to her Christian profession. Leaving aside her Roman Catholicism, why is her fascism not called into question? Is it not even problematic for them? What about her long cohabitation? Dare I even bring up the question of feminism and Christian womanhood?

Once again, political Christianity is demonstrated to live by the ethics consequentialism - the end justifies the means. They don't really care who or what a person is as long as they'll pay lip service to and champion their causes and policy goals.

There's no reason to believe Meloni is a Christian. She is obviously intelligent and a compelling figure - some will find her attractive and this is also to her political benefit. But the claim must be challenged. Instead we find (to no real surprise) that she is treated like a rock star among American Evangelicals.

Would they let her join their churches? Would they share in communion with her? Since these things mean little to them, the question is largely moot. Real communion for them is not doctrinal or theological, but cultural and political. Time and again they think they are 'winning' with such candidates but their victory is only achieved by moving the goalposts and redefining goals. It's a farce, as are Meloni's Christian claims. Her understanding is at best a severe distortion of Christianity. I suppose the same can be said regarding the majority of Evangelicals.
