What is more sad, that Jim Bakker after all he's been through
is still as lost as ever? Or that he is still granted a voice within the
spectrum of Evangelicalism?
One might question his 'many times' notion of salvation but
even looking past that for a moment, one thing is clear... whatever salvation
Bakker is referring to with regard to Trump, it hasn't taken hold.
In fact the statement reveals a great deal more about Bakker
himself and his own understanding of the gospel.
Paula White, the self-styled pastor and false prophetess
insists she's heard Trump acknowledge his sin. This is odd because in terms of
the public record I think it safe to say that Trump not only dismisses the idea
that he's a sinner, he's rather defiant about it. 'Lostness' in Trump is in all
actuality amplified over even that of the normal person. He is not just lost,
he is profoundly so and clearly understands nothing of the gospel. On a
personal level the adjective that best describes his relationship to it is hostile.
It's funny to read about Bakker and Robison in 2019. These
are the same frauds that led the Evangelical movement down the path of
supporting figures like Reagan and Bush in the 1980's. They were exposed as
blind guides and yet thirty years later... they're still around and won't go
away.
One wonders what miracles Bakker is referring to. The only
miracle is that Christians have been so handed over as to take someone like
Trump and transform him into a messianic figure. And of course there's the
miracle of Bakker himself... that he still can garner headlines even as he digs
the grave of his own condemnation.
He continues to proffer lies and myths about himself, Trump,
America and the teachings of Scripture. He is heaping up to himself judgment
and dragging many souls along with him.
The idea that Trump wants to 'please God' is perhaps one of
the most laughable and yet sad statements I have ever heard uttered. Anyone who
has spent any time looking into Donald Trump or has followed him and sought to
understand what he is about will understand that Bakker is either a liar,
completely deceived... or more likely both.
